Torah perspective
A get is not a document. It is the release of a soul from a bond that was never meant to be a cage. The Torah calls marriage a covenant of kindness, and when kindness dies, the bond must be untied, not weaponized. What the women in this film describe, years held in limbo by a refusal that costs the refuser nothing, is the precise inversion of that covenant: the power to bind turned into the power to torment. Jewish law never granted any man ownership of his wife's future. It granted him a role in undoing a union, and a role is not a right to enslave. Every day a get is withheld, the Torah itself is made to testify against its own intent.
