Torah perspective
When a copilot stabbed his captain mid-flight and sent the plane plunging toward Ben Gurion, the first instinct of several commentators was to ask who benefits politically. The Torah warns against exactly this reflex. Do not follow a crowd to do evil, and do not stand idly by the blood of your neighbor. One hundred eighty people were seconds from death. That fact deserves to be the story. The sages teach that one who saves a single life saves an entire world. The passengers who subdued the attacker did that. Reducing their rescue to a campaign talking point inverts the moral order: it treats human beings as props in an argument. Speak of the miracle first. The politics can wait.
