Torah perspective
Speech is the vessel of the soul, and when illness seals a child's mouth, something of the Divine image in them is held captive. The sages teach that the entire creation stands on the breath of our words, so a child who cannot speak is not merely inconvenienced; they are cut off from the very channel through which their inner world reaches another person. A communication board that restores that channel in minutes is a quiet act of restoration. The Torah commands us to imitate God's ways, and the first thing He did for Adam was give him language. Giving a sick child back their voice is a small echo of that original gift.
